All About Dental Implants

If you have ever lost a tooth due to injury or disease, you can understand how emotionally and physically painful the ordeal can be. Even if the rest of your teeth are bright and beautiful, having a missing tooth automatically diminishes your smile, it's not only appearance concerns you need to worry about. Missing teeth can lead to many dental problems and can also cause teeth to shift, changing the shape of your smile permanently. Cosmetic dentist Dr. Thomas Konecny, understands these concerns and has helped so many people beautifully restore their smiles and regain the confidence, they deserve, with cosmetic dental implants.

A dental implant is a titanium cylinder that essentially acts as an artificial tooth root and is surgically placed into the jaw. After several months the titanium implant fuses to the jaw bone and once the gums have healed around it, a replacement tooth or crown is anchored to the top of the titanium post. The results are an unbelievably strong, natural-looking tooth, providing patients with the enhanced ability to chew, speak, and enjoy life again.

Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth or even support a denture. However, implants are not for everyone. In order to be a good candidate for dental implants you must be in good overall health, have healthy gums and enough bone in your jaw to support the implant(s).

Compared to other artificial tooth restorations, dental implants offer the most durable, long lasting solution for missing teeth. Just like your regular teeth, dental implants need proper regular maintenance to ensure the long-term success of your treatment. This includes brushing and flossing regularly and visiting the dentist at least once a year for regular checkups. When properly maintained, dental implants can give you the confidence, comfort and convenience you once had and a beautiful smile that will last a lifetime.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Appearance - Dental implants are a perfect compliment to the rest of your teeth. Implants have a natural look and feel to them and are as esthetically pleasing as they are durable. Compared to other artificial restorations, dental implants help prevent bone loss and gum recession and offer the healthiest most comfortable solution to fill the gaps in your smile.

Increased Confidence and Self Esteem - No matter how beautiful the rest of your teeth may be, if you're missing even one, it automatically diminishes the aesthetics of your smile. Dental implants can successfully fill in the gaps left my lost teeth and provide the comfort and support of a natural tooth. You'll instantly be able to chew, speak and smile with the confidence you deserve.

Reliability - Dental Implants have a high level of success and offer a permanent solution to missing teeth. With proper oral maintenance including brushing and flossing regularly, combined with routine checkups with your dentist, you can further ensure the success of your dental implant treatment.
